Alcazar and Camera Obscura views in Jerez

19 June 2013 By Luna Dizon
On a recent visit to Jerez de la Frontera in Spain's Andalucia, I spend a morning at the Alcazar and learn a story about a fortress that's lasted centuries. And despite its changing hands throughout its history, there's never been any doubt to this historic fortress' importance to the city. They also have a camera obscura, which is definitely worth a look just to marvel at the ingenuity of this old method of taking pictures as well as being a chance to see the city from a different perspective.

São João in Porto - it's hammer time!

29 May 2013 By Luna Dizon
In several cities in Northern Portugal, June features the much loved festival of São João. MC Hammer would be proud because here it really is hammer time as people take to the streets for music, eating, drinking and hitting people over the head with a plastic hammer. It's fun, frivolous and you're invited!
