Love Saturdays in London and head to Maltby Street 03 January 2013 By Luna Dizon I do love finding new foodie destinations to check out and if you're in London on a Saturday (from 9am to 2pm or later), you should do just that with Maltby Street in Bermondsey. Under the railway arches you'll find specialty producers where you can buy all sorts of fabulous items to stock up on from cheeses to ice cream and coffee to beer and organic wines. Maltby Street and the area around is also a rather good place for a cocktail and tasty street food. Just make sure you come hungry! No Comments Leave a Comment Read Article 03 Jan
Swimming through leaves in London Fields Lido 22 November 2012 By Luna Dizon Sometimes the things you miss from home when you're away for a while can surprise you. I was away for two years and one of the places I missed the most in London was my local outdoor swimming pool. Having had an amazing swim as autumn seems to make way for winter, I thought I'd share why I love London Fields Lido so much... No Comments Leave a Comment Read Article 22 Nov
WigWamBam at the Queen of Hoxton 22 November 2012 By Luna Dizon It's getting colder out but that's no reason to stay in... If you're in London, head to the Queen of Hoxton and up the stairs all the way to their roof terrace. You might think it sounds a bit crazy wanting to spend an evening outside when there are perfectly nice places inside but this roof terrace features mini bonfires, a giant BBQ and a big tipi (or wigwam) lit up with fairy lights. And if that wasn't enough to entice you, they've got a great selection of winter warming cocktails too. No Comments Leave a Comment Read Article 22 Nov
Wilton's Music Hall, my new favourite watering hole 20 November 2012 By Luna Dizon I've wanted to go for ages and finally made it in the last week. So pleased too as I think I've found my new favourite place to drink. It's hidden away just a short walk from Tower Bridge, is beautiful, serves good ales and features aperitivo! The Mahogany Bar is part of Wilton's Music Hall (owning the 'oldest surviving music hall' moniker), which has a fascinating history that goes back to the 18th century. In its time, it's been frequented by singing sailors as well as used as a soup kitchen for striking dockers' families. Wilton's Music Hall has survived a big fire, the Blitz and calls for its demolition. If shabby walls could speak, I'm sure it would have an incredible story to tell. Bleak and beautiful at Somerset House 30 October 2012 By Luna Dizon It might be getting colder and darker but there's still plenty of reason to get yourself out there and see what's on. In London's Somerset House there are two free exhibitions on at the moment that are a perfect match for the Autumnal weather. As they prepare for another winter season of ice skating in the courtyard, I check out Tim Walker's fairytale-like photography and the bleakly beautiful night paintings by Paul Benney in the Deadhouse. Open for the first time outside of guided tours, it's a fantastic way to explore beneath the palace. No Comments Leave a Comment Read Article 30 Oct
