Agueda, Portugal - floating colourful umbrellas - Portugal car hire
It's raining umbrellas!

Umbrella art photos by Patrícia Almeida on Juxtapoz

I found these pictures of this spectacular art installation on art blog, Juxtapoz, and I love it! Don't you think something like this is bound to cheer any place up?

Life in colour

The umbrellas are hung from wires above this street in Águeda in Portugal. Pictures of the installation surfaced recently so I'm hoping it's still up there… Okay, to be fair - this installation of umbrellas in sunny Portugal is particularly handy to shade people away from the bright sunshine. Still, if on a wet day, everyone had colourful umbrellas - wouldn't it just make things that little bit brighter?

What to try in Águeda

And if you do make the trip down, stick around and try out the regional specialty - roast suckling pig (leitão assado). Wash it down with a sparkling wine - the region also produces 60% of the countries sparkling wine including white, rosé and red.

photo from PAL Travel. Mmmm, just from looking at it, you know it'll taste delicious!

The small town of Águeda is an hour's drive south from Porto in your Portugal car hire. If that's inspired you to plan a trip to Portugal (it has me and I've been fairly recently!), see what else I thought was really tasty in Porto here…

Save your pennies (for more food!) and book a low-cost Portugal car hire with us. We've got Portugal car hire from Porto Airport in the north to Faro Airport in the Algarve and lots of places in between too!
